Do you really want clean, toxin free skin?
Well, best you avoid cleansers that contain Sodium Laurel Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate... Sodium Laureth Sulfate? Actually it can be labelled around 17 different ways but is basically the same thing which is a cheap ingredient that is found in most detergents and other harsh cleaners. "Why not cleanse with SLS?" You may ask? "My skin feels tight, dry and clean, in fact squeaky clean after I use it.
I'm not saying SLS doesn't work, it does! Very, very well in fact. It's the go to for industrial degreasing, floor cleaning, cleaning concrete and getting the grease off the wheels of your car. It's awesome.
Should you use it on your face? I'll let you decide. Peer reviewed papers based on clinical trials show that it can cause subcutaneous irritation. It has been found in the blood and muscle tissue of the test sites (rats). Cumulative use increases the concentration with undefined as yet potential for major toxicity. Finally SLS removes the precious youth preserving sebum/acid mantle of the skin. Sebum protects the skin from bacterial infection, prevents airborne pollutants from contaminating the skin surface and also helps keep the skin hydrated by acting as a barrier.
